Sterling Reserve Chardonnay 2012
|Region||California, Napa Valley|
Sweeping aromas of toffee, nutmeg and clove settle on rich apple pie, baked pear and macerated Meyer lemon in the potent, polished profile of our Reserve Chardonnay. Citrus notes grace round Gala apples and poached pears on the entry, and then dive into toast and crème brûlée. Tropical fruit expands through the finish, touched by a hint of caramel and baking spice. With refined acidity and a clean palate, this is a wine to enjoy with food; try pork chops stuffed with apples and rosemary or steamed lobsters with drawn butter. To create a balanced Chardonnay that combines both power and elegance, we gently hand harvested the grapes and barrel fermented them in small lots. A portion of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation, broadening the mid-palate and adding balance to the bright fruit. Sur lie aging with generous batônnage helped build the creamy, viscous character and multi-layered palate.
Gorgeous fruit, rich and creamy, with tiers of spicy pear and lemon flavors, complemented by a kiss of oak. Ends with honeydew and honeysuckle notes on the finish. Drink now. 950 cases made.
