Color: Very dark golden yellow, fiery red tint, mahogany.
First nose: Narcissus, jasmine, very old tawny port, cigar box scent, curry, saffron, nutmeg, passion fruit.
Second nose: Violet, iris, litchi, pineapple, dried fruit and sandalwood.
First palate: Very concentgrated, rich in aromas, warm, harmonious with a spicy mellowness.
Second palate: Candied fruits with an exotic touch, giving way to floral delicacy and a perfect marriage of fruits, flowers and spices on the palate. The highest complexity including aromas from first and second noses.
Finish: An extremely long finish of an hour or more.
The aroma features fig, prune, pastry dough, honey and maple scents. On palate, Louis XIII offers long and intensely woody flavors; additional layers of flavor, including figs, dates, prunes, dried apricot and vanilla, are featured at midpalate. Finishes elegantly, warm, smooth and more oaky than fruity succulent. Only minor rancio.
